The city, our urban living space, a living, dynamic organism, generates a multitude of urban movements
that are created and clocked by social, cultural, technological, climatic, and topographical conditions and activities.
Each movement has its own temporal and spatial course and character – some are repeated in waves,
increasing and decreasing intervals, others in short repetitive patterns, some are nonrhythmic or impulsive.
Urban spaces have their characteristic rhythms, composed of interdependent and interrelating movements and events – complex polyrhythmic patterns emerge and become audible.
